    PM assures undivided country
    [Oct. 03, 2005]

The ruling party presidential hopeful, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, has called on all communities to join him on behalf of an undivided country. Premier Rajapaksa was addressing a public rally in Godakawela in Rathnapura. He said many progressive forces including 23 political parties have expressed their support to him in this task.

Mr. Rajapaksa argued that only the LTTE and organisations affiliated to them are supporting the United National Party.

The Prime Minister invited all communities who have a feeling towards their motherland to join hands with him for an undivided country. He added that he had a practical programme on behalf of young men and women.

Referring to the decisions reached by the central committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, which met recently, its general secretary Maithripala Sirisena said their manifesto will be prepared, taking into consideration the MOUs signed by the Prime Minister with the JVP and Jathika Hela Urumaya and respecting the views of all these political parties and also the policy of the SLFP.

JVP propaganda secretary and parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa meanwhile requested the people to rally against false reports aired through certain electronic media against the Prime Minister.

    Mahinda's Vision for the Country:
CHANGE Sri Lanka to be a Modern State whilst Fostering the National Heritage and Culture with Peaceful Co-existence among the Communities of Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and others, instilling Economic Growth and Prosperity; and Maintaining Friendly Relationship with all Nations.
